Elgato Launches Stream Deck Studio, Supercharging Professional Broadcasting Workflows

Elgato has introduced its latest and largest Stream Deck controller, the Stream Deck Studio, designed to meet the demanding needs of professional broadcasters. This new device, priced at $899.99, is a powerful upgrade to simplify the management of complex workflows in broadcast environments. It’s built to handle more hardware, software, and media feeds than typical content creators need, making it a game-changer for traditional broadcasting setups.

The Stream Deck Studio is the result of a collaboration between Elgato and Bitfocus, the developers behind Companion software. Companion software has already expanded the capabilities of the original Stream Deck. This new version takes things further with 32 customizable LCD keys arranged in two rows and two rotary dials for precise control. At 19 inches long, it’s designed to fit seamlessly into standard studio racks alongside other professional gear.

One of the standout features of the Stream Deck Studio is its flexibility. Broadcasters can now freely configure multiple windows, control devices remotely through a web interface, and even link multiple Stream Deck Studio units together to act as one, using Bitfocus’ new Buttons software. This software enhances functionality with advanced features like real-time visual feedback on the LCD keys and the ability to authenticate users through the device’s built-in RFID/NFC reader.

The Stream Deck Studio isn’t just limited to broadcast control; its versatility makes it ideal for use in various professional environments, including communication systems, where companies like Virgin Atlantic have already adopted earlier versions of Stream Deck instead of far more expensive equipment. The device’s USB-C connectivity offers streamlined power and data management, with options for Power over Ethernet (PoE) or bus-powered devices, adding even more flexibility to broadcast setups.

Bitfocus’ Buttons software is available as a paid upgrade, offering different pricing tiers ranging from $9 to $99 per month, depending on the user’s needs. Buttons allows users to completely customize the device’s interface, control system statuses, and streamline complex workflows, ensuring that even the most intricate broadcasting setups are easily managed.

Multiple Stream Deck Studio units can be stacked and integrated into a single workflow for larger productions, providing even greater control over a broadcast. Additional devices, such as the Stream Deck XL, can be connected through the unit’s front USB-C port for those who need even more buttons and functionality in their production environments.

The Stream Deck Studio brings a new level of control, scalability, and flexibility to professional broadcasters, offering a highly customizable interface that can adapt to the evolving demands of modern broadcast systems. By combining the intuitive design of Elgato’s original Stream Deck with advanced professional features, Stream Deck Studio is set to redefine how broadcasters interact with their tools, making complex operations more manageable and efficient.
